If it is working properly, the heat output from the propane burner is almost twice the output from the 120V heating accessory, so recovery can be faster. But if you can run both, recovery will be faster yet.

Sometimes, with a 30 amp electrical system, you have enough other things running (like air conditioner and cooking or hair dressing appliances, or space heaters) that there is not enough current available to support the water heating element. When you start tripping breakers, you shed the electric water heating load, as you have an alternative for that.

Most people who have electric water heaters and are parked with unmetered electrical hookups, like the idea of using the electricity they've already paid for.
