I have broken the window over the dinette table in my trailer. The frame is damaged too. A new one is pricey. However, I have one avalable that is 6" wider and same height.
My concern is with structure. With these ultralight aluminum frame TT's do I risk weakening an already light weight structure? It feels good and solid in that area. I'm thinking that the window assembly gives the wall some help since it is a metal box and is well bonded in the wall. Have any of you done such a thing? What is the stud distance? Should I just bite the bullet and put in an exact replacement?

Most likely the aluminum frame was welded up to frame in that particular window size. Removing a piece of the frame will comprimise the structure but to what degree, I don't know.
The other issue is how you would re-frame the new hole. On a wood structure, all one needs to do is slide in a new 2 x 2 stud and staple it to the existing frame. On aluminum, a new stud would need to welded to retain the structual integrity.
If it were me, I would "bite the bullit" and buy the correct size window.
That nearly new Trailmaster is too nice and new a trailer to go Mickey Mousing around trying to modify existing structure.

I would concure with purchasing the correct sized window in this case. The cost to have aluminum framing modified by a welder will most likely cost more than a new window (not to mention risk of fire while welding).
NHguy- Have you pulled the old window out to make sure there is even aluminum framing around the window? I know that some trailers do not have any framing around some of the windows and you may be able to just make the hole larger and not deal with any aluminum framing
You can find the aluminum studs with a good stud finder. I suspect there are fewer than you expect, and good possibility not around your window. If you have a unit that is frame and foam sandwich like mine, you can re-frame with wood, and install a new larger window.
