What a great story. I don't know how anyone can criticize them for their decisions.
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?"...and then it hits me!!!!

I liked the story, too.
Since we do overnight at WalMart on our way to and from destinations, I found this quote interesting:
"While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Wal-Mart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers," said Wal-Mart spokeswoman Ashley Hardie in a statement to the Star-Tribune. "Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store lots as we are able. Permission to park is extended by individual store managers, based on availability of parking space and local laws."
Nice.

Wal*Mart is not a campground and as people abuse the stay over night privalige the cities and towns tend to eliminate it. It used to be rare to find a no overnight sign at Wal*Marts, it is becoming less so.

Let the story stand on it's own.

We've never overnighted at WalMart, but think it's cool that the stores allow it.

It is a touching story about the couple plus with Wal-Mart going on the record the way they did was icing on the cake.
I guess we have stayed overnight maybe six times and only once what there another RV. They were down when we arrived well after dark and gone before we awoke.
As noted it is not really camping. Last week end we stated at Wal-Mart on Thursday and Saturday nights. We ate at the McDonald's inside shopped some and crashed due to doing the theme park/caves all day. There are always truckers 'camping' there.
Actually if you will ask there are other places that will say YES. WM just happens to make good money if you overnight with them. In our case due to a death we left home a day early and Thursday night we stocked for the next three day and Saturday it was just the logical place to eat, sleep and start the next day's touring.

It's still a rare find.
And there is an e-book available at freecampgrounds.com that lists the WalMarts that do not allow overnight stays.
My gosh...this article has it straight from the horse's mouth, if you will.
