We are on the 2nd RK fifthwheel and one reason is because it makes for a good kitchen. 2nd reason is RL models have a big area on one side and no windows to see out, we can see out the end and both sides plus the front of the big slide.
To answer about bouncing, we have air products on the hitch and alpenlite suspension so awesome smooth ride for the fifth. But we all need to buy what seems the best for our needs and don't second guess or it gets expensive trading.

We have a RK and had a door come open once and some stuff broke. We now just run a bungee through the door handles and have no problems since. It is a bit of a pain not being able to access the fridge without running the slide out but that's a minor tradeoff for the extra counter space you have with the RK design.
Hey: I bought my first(newbie)5th wheel this year and we looked at a lot of floor plans that we thought that would fit our needs, they all have pros and cons. We ended getting a 08 Jayco 313RKS, with sticking to the floor plan, I thought I’d mention a few that at least made our minds up.
1. There is a big picture window on the awning side where we think most of the activity would be.
2. If we bought a RL, people outside could see through the whole trailer and if you park at a camp site back to back with another RL, each trailer would see through both (Our friends have a RL and say that they have their shades pulled most the time when this happens).
3. To use the bathroom you have to walk through the whole trailer every time with most RL’s (if the door is at the back).
4. We found that there is more counter space with most RK trailers and it’s where you can cook out of the way of traffic.
5. As far as the RK cabinets, we have gone on few tips and haven’t broken anything and are still learning, but don’t see any major or minor problems that can’t be rectified.
6. With our model we liked the enclosed bathroom and bedroom.
7. If the RL has the door at the back, you have to walk pass the lounge chairs to enter and if going to the bathroom, you to walk through the whole trailer.
Take your time, there isn’t a perfect trailer to fit everyone’s needs, but you can sure find one that is close and the joys of camping will make you forgot the small stuff.
