Anybody been across I-10 west bound Slidell to Houston? I have been told that has been resurfaced.

Not recently. We came westbound on I10 along that way back in late March of this year. It was really terrible at that time. It sure did need to be resurfaced or maybe just shut down.

If it hasn't been resurfaced. Glue the dentures down real good and take along a new set of tires. You may need them.

Good luck.

It IS rough! It's not too bad once you hit Texas.
I thought for sure all our cabinets were going to break loose.

It's much better than it used to be, but work remains to be done. The worst section is just east of Lake Charles.

Rough and construction east of Lake Charles for about 10 miles. I will not take my 5er on that section.. Headed west, take Exit 44, left to hwy 165 south to hwy 90 and take the 210 loop.

Newly surfaced headed east. Possible that some of the west bound is open as I have not been that way in 4 weeks.

Hi Charlie,
So, the East bound side is now smooth all the way from Lake Charles to the US165 exit? We'll be heading to the Alexandria area from Texas in a few weeks and normally take Vidor LA12/US190 to Kinder in the past...But that was getting rough on the last trip...
Thanks,
Luke

Yes, portion of new east bound is complete and you are diverted to it while they repair the rest. There is a nasty dip headed east and west just before you get to the 210 loop. If you are headed east, slow down about 1/2 mile before the 210 loop exit. It is just east of the overpass that they have been working on and before you make the big left hand curve.

Thanks Charlie,

Hopefully, there aren't any of those ~8'2" wide construction barriers along this stretch....

My reference to the nasty dip location is on the west side of Lake Charles. On the south side of the highway, head east is a big solid waste dump. Can't miss it as it is a huge mount. Name escapes me but it is one of the national companies. Just east of there is that dip.

We traveled that yesterday, turned north off I 10 at exit 59 to go to Kinder. avoided the mess and then took 190 west and hwy 12 to Vidor.
