I've got two of the standard, white, bunk-end light/fan combos that plug into the ceiling lights.

However I've noticed if I keep the fan on high from more than 10 mins it starts to slow down to a speed even slower than the 'slow' setting. However, unplugging the mono-connection and pulling it back in speeds it up again but only for a short while. I however cannot replicate the slow down when using the low setting. Any thounghts?
Is this a fan problem or a power/wiring issue? I have not noticed any other drops in power.

It may be just the duty cycle of the fan. Some aren't designed to run at full speed continuously. But the first thing I'd do is check the voltage at the fan.
See if turning the light on on the unit OR the light it's plugged into shortens the time the fan runs full speed or draws it down immediately.
The 1/4" plugs are only rated for 4 amps and I'm not sure what draw the fan and/or the light in it has.

Sounds more to me like you have a mighty weak battery and/or a low-power output converter.

For the most part we're always connected to shore power. I am concerned about the quality of the converter. I'll have to snap so pictures and pull some specs.

Thanks!

Mike....even though you're connected to shore power, if your battery is sucking most of the juice from the converter (which is minimal on most OEM converters), the symptoms I mentioned are very likely the cause----if that battery is done in, you could have a reasonably good converter that would exhibit exactly the problem you described....check the battery condition!

Are you sure the shore power was ok? I had this problem, only once, at once CG. It was going on for a couple of days there. Never experienced it again.

I'm having the exact problem with my fan as well. I have three identical fans(as the ones that were posted) and only one is doing it. I'm guessing we have defective fans that seem to overheat or something.

My fans do the same thing except on the low setting. They may run all night fine. Other times they'll run for 15 minutes and then slow down to a stop. Turning them back on high for a second and then back to low usually fixes it for a while.

Power never drops, lights never dim. My take is they are junk. I may put a drop of light oil to see if that makes them spin easier.

I made my own fans, without a light though. I bought 2 12V clamp on fans ($8.62ea) at Wal-Mart, cut off the 12v plugs and installed 1/4" mono jacks (Radio Shack, 2 for 3.99)and the things work great. They clamp to my center pole, although they seem to vibrate a lot, with the mattress on it just adds to the white noise effect to lull me to sleep. These fans oscillate too.
