When I plug my Palomino Pony into 120 volts AC, everything in the camper works fine. Lights, water pump, etc. When I disconnect the AC and try to run off my new Deep Cycle battery which is over 93% charged, nothing works. I have the black wire lead going to negative. I have white wire lead going to positive. In another post, a lot of people said if you are going to disconnect just one lead from the battery, make sure it is the ground (negative) because if you have the positive lead touch ground while AC is plugged in, you'll have problems. So I put positive on first. Yeah, I should have taken the AC plug out. But anyway I put negative on second. When that sparked, I kind of remembered something about always grounding first. I unplugged the AC and put the negative lead back on the battery. I plugged the AC back in and nothing sparked or anything. I thought it was OK until I tried to run off just the battery. I have a tester to see how much the battery is charged and you have to clip and touch the leads a certain way. Once again, I think the battery itself is fine. Anyway I don't know if the wires are criss-crossed or what. The battery still reads almost fully charged and the lights in the trailer only work when I have AC going to it. Any clues?

Colored (red or black) is positive if the other wire is white (negative).
Let's hope the reverse polarity protection built into the converter (fuse) blew and all you need is to connect the battery correctly and replace a fuse!

I was told that the black wire with the red plastic thing on it was negative and the white wire was postive. Are you suggesting that I switch them? Also is it for certain that I blew a fuse? I have a small white panel with a green light that makes a beep when ever I plug in AC or unplug AC and it says on there 1 amp max. Is there a separate DC fuse and where would it be?

Yup you reversed the wiring. That "red thing" is either an automatic ciruict breaker if it doesn't open or fuse case if it does.
As for blown fuses yes you did. At least one. Before checking them get out your multimeter as fuses have a nasty habit of looking good but being blown. As for their location inside the back of the conveter if they aren't visible on the back.
If the converter is an older Centurion model there will be a 7.5 buss fuse mounted on the actual circuit board that blows for reverse polarity.

Ditto what Mike said. Palomino uses white for negative, black for positive. (why Palomino and others choose to use black for + remains a mystery---it defies all other low voltage standards.)

To clarify, particularly if you don't have a multi-meter, follow that white wire to be sure it is attached to the frame/ground.

That "small white panel" with the 1A fuse is most likely the CO and/or LPG detector.

Always attach positive cable first, and negative last to avoid sparking.

Although I doubt you'll forget this incident, you might also want to clearly label your cables once you have everything set up properly.

I have 3 blue fuses that say 15 in the front part of the converter. That's self explanatory. Then I have an amber fuse that says OE. I am not sure what that is. I have to get a fuse puller when I get some new fuses. Perhaps the fuse that says OE is the one that is blown. I will get 15's too though.

OE might mean, "Oh *expletive*!!!". It will be a 40 Amp fuse (orange).

So an orange 40 amp mini-blade fuse is what goes if the polarity on the deep cycle battery was reversed? And is a basic typical set up, 3 blue 15's and one orange 40?

or maybe I was reading it wrong and it wasn't in the same way as the 15's and it was a 30 ?? What color is a 30 amp mini-blade fuse?

For a Folding Camper Trailer, are these usually mini-blade fuses or regular blade fuses?
