I still lived in Wales then, but was on a US trip at the time. We had been to Mission control in Texas prior to the launch, were at the Cape to see the actual launch itself. For the moon walk, we were in Miami Beach watching it with the other young guys on the tour in a hotel room.
What a trip!!
Never miss an opportunity to walk on the grass.

I was at a campground with my parents in the Santa Cruz, CA mountains. A lot of us watched the landing on a 13" TV that was set up high from the campground office.
Fast forward to July 1999. We had just bought a popup and decided to camp at the same place again. When we got there, I mentioned to the lady at the office about seeing the moon landing in '69. Her eyes got real wide and she called her husband over to chat.
It seems that they were newlyweds in '69 and were campground workers. They had also watched the moon walk from the patio. They eventually bought the campground and had been running it for many years. They showed me a picture of them from those days, and they looked like a couple of hippies.
Totally different than they look today.

I was at my grandmother's house in Oklahoma watching it on TV. My parents had picked up a paper model of the LM and I had strung it and ran the string over a curtain rod. So as the real LM descended, so did my little model (I was 9 years old at the time). Mine landed a well as the one on the moon.

I was out looking at the moon. The next door neighbor's 10 year old was out in my driveway with his telescope, trying to see the lander.
