Has anyone added flat steps to the ladder? The round steps are murder on bare feet.

A while back somebody posted that they had put armaflex style pipe insulation on the steps, so I tie wrapped some on and it makes a huge diference. It probobly won't last that long but it is cheap. Hope this helps.

Both units I have own had flat steps that seem to be bolted on. If yours is welded: a local welder may be able to fabricate some steps for it.

You are NOT kidding! I, too, used the rubber pipe insulation and it makes a tremendous improvement in using the ladders.

Will look into that... My 9y/o daughter has no issues but they kill me to climb in bare feet. My wife also wants a grab bar at the top and maybe some kind of protection from rolling out?

Ideas? I love our ladder that stows into the wall and my daughter loves the loft area... but it really seems about 80% thought out for usability.

I make the payments, so I sleep you in the nice bed.

Ok, here is something, It takes some work, Take a level and mark the side of the ladder when it is on the upper bed to show where the step is flat. take it to your loco welder and have them weld on some flats and then just paint it. and you are in there. I have a welder and it was easy. ask around, there are a lot of people that will do that kind of work. sheet metal shops would be the best.

Maybe I am missing something, but I didn't know you could weld wood

This is the loft bed, not outside. I like the pipe insulation idea. Gonna give that a shot.
