Arriving home, after a short but bouncy trip, we found the cupboard doors had opened and some Corell dishes smashed on the floor of our fiver.
We do put patches of non slip material between each dish, and the closures on the doors have friction, but I guess not enough.
These are cheap cupboards were the doors are not inset but mounted on top.
What I like to do is replace all closures with something more solid, perhaps with something readily available from Home Depot or alike.
Any ideas?
Help is appreciated.
Egon.

Besides bungy cords you can also use the child-proof plastic locks on the cupboard doors, the kind they recommend you use when there is a new baby in the house...

If the handles are near each other, we bought some velcro strapping and just attach the velcro between the handles.

When we stop, we just take the velcro off and store it in the cabinet

We've never had a problem with the cabinets but the pantry would be open when we got to camp. I bought the childproof locks...no more open pantry.

Child safety latches will limit how far the doors open.

Woodworking shops, some hardwares, will have a selection of latches, more positive than what is normally used on home cabinetry.

This sounds good. We have a plastic child proof catch on a low drawer. We don't remember and open it breaking the thing

I just have those plastic plungers and ring receptors - two per door. They work fine. I have removed almost all glass from the galley, so even if I missed a door, nothing will break. There's some really pretty plastic ware out these days. Looks just like glass. Might be worth a look. I use paper to avoid doing dishes at all. If you insist on glass, a couple of cut-to-fit stiff cardboard inserts inside the door frame and as tall as the opening will keep your stacked stuff from flying out if a door comes open.

Do be aware that in some of these things, your drawer runners hang free and are attached to plastic holders at the back of the cabinet. Those things can and will crack as time goes on. The heavier the junk in that drawer, the more likely you'll break one and have to re-do the drawer or jury rig a new holder for the runner. PITA job. I have concluded that any kitchen or bath gear bigger, heavier, or 'sturdier' than the lightest, smallest thing you can buy for your intended purpose is no bargain at all in an RV. Whatever you put on your drawers to keep them closed, make sure it doesn't add strain on those hangers!
