I received a recall letter on my fridge so I made an appointment to take it in this morning for the required fix. I turned off the fridge yesterday and also turned off the gas at the bottle. This morning when I went out to the camper the LP alarm was sounding. It stopped when I opened the door as the fresh air got into the camper. I checked and, yes the gas was off. A few minutes and the alarm goes off again. I again open the door, fresh air in camper and alarm stops. Just for the heck of it I turned the gas back on at the bottle and the alarm has not sounded again. All appliances were checked and are off. Any ideas on what happened??

There are a lot of household cleaning and deodorizing products that will set the alarm off. Hairspray and the like will also set it off.
I also find that blowing it out with my compressor from time to time will help cut down on false alarms.

Low battery level?
It's also been suggested here before that they have about a 5 year life span and need to be replaced?

Make sure there is nothing in front of the LP monitor. I leaned a small folded table against the counter in front of ours last year and at midnight the alarm went off lifting us off the beds in fright. We looked all over the inside and opened the door and aired out the place. We went back to bed...about 10 minutes later the same thing happened, we were really worried. We started to look for the alarm monitor and that is when I noticed the table leaning against the sink counter. Our monitor was under the cupboard under the sink. I moved the table and no more alarm sounds. I never put anything anywhere near that thing again....can't take a chance on that happening too many times as I don't think our hearts could take the levitation abuse.

First you really should not call it an "LP GAS" alarm
It is an "Explosive Gas" alarm. it can not distinguish between LP gas, Gasoline vapors, Alcohol vapors, Butane, Methane just about any---ANE, (Including propane, the P in LP) what it can not detect, since the L in LP means LIQUID, is LP cause LP is not a gas,
It can also detect water I found out the hard way
(Well water shorted it out and off it went)
However any explosive gas.. Some of these can be generated naturally (Methane for example) and thus there may have been no malfunction.

Re. read the original post.... It may be that something tried to light and could not due to not enough pressure in the line.. THe remaining as in the line vented into the rig and set off the alarm. If this is the case the alarm worked as designed. however there was no real danger.. This is actually a good thing
