One of our upgrades in the new rig is 50A. WOW that 50A cord is heavier than the 30A cord I had!! Our 30A cord just pushed into a box but this 50A monster is detachable and must be stowed somewhere. It is heavy, bulky and awkward.

How do you all store these? I'm thinking some kind of tote maybe 2-3' square and 6-8" high? Something to coil the cord in so I can pick it up more easily and slide it into storage without it coming uncoiled and hanging up on stuff?

Anyone make a product? Other ideas for this?

Ours has a "U" shaped hanger in the basement that it hangs on.

Ours is on a hanger in the storage compartment on the utilty side of the trailer. I also installed one on the other side of the storage area for the 50A extention cord. I bought the hangers at Home Depot.

I know what you mean about being bulky. I store mine in a round plastic laundry basket. I put one end of the cord into the basket and rotate the basket to feed and coil the cord. I keep the smaller guage cords in a smaller coil in the bottom of the basket with the heavy guage cord on top. All the dogbone connector/converters fit in the middle of the coils. It's a little heavy but it works fine for me.

If we are just going from one place to the next without leaving the truck alone we just lay that heavy thing in the bed of the truck instead of wrestling with to hang it up or put in a crate. The colder the weather the harder it is to handle that 50 amp cord.

I use a plastic Milk crate works great and does not use much storage space.

I have always just coiled it up in the bed of our truck when traveling. When stored at home it is plugged in and it is the first thing connected when setting up in a campsite. Yes, it's hard to handle in colder weather.

BINGO! this is worth a try.
I can handle the weight if I can get a good grip on it. Round is better than square for this I think. I also like all the cords in one place.

...and yes, I had anticipated the troubles in the cold and was not looking forward to that. If I'm not running AC I wonder if I can put a 50A twist/lock onto a 30A cord for the cold...

In the cold, you can put your foot on it and still barely bend it. It's tough. I use a rubbermaid container and that seems to work fine for me.

As far as the 50 amp end on a 30 amp cord, that's what I did and I only use the 50 amp cord when camping. I still run 1 A/C when using the lighter cord.
