I just bought a new Open Road and the 50 amp cord is smaller and lighter than the 2004 model I had. I'm not sure what they did to make it lighter, and whether it makes any difference in the amount of power available, but, this one is easier to handle.

I use a round laundry basket. Just spin the basket and feed the cable in...works in cold weather as well. Easy to carry with the handles on the basket, and like others said, put all of the adapters in the middle of the coil. I also use another basket for the water hose. Probably the single best piece of advice I got during the delivery inspection at the dealer.

We don't have a W/D combo in the trailer or a 2nd A/C so I took the 50 amp end off the python and put it on a 30 amp cord and all is well. The 50 amp'r now hangs on a hook in my shop until it is needed for the above.

Our 2005 Montana came with the cord already in a round plastic laundry basket. I've always left all of my electric adapters in there so it is all in one place. It is still heavy but not as bulky and everything is together.Ken

I also use the plastic milk crate. Its a stronger plastic than the rubber maid. I leave enough of the trailer end out then coil the rest.

I store my 50 amp cable in a Rubbermaid storage box that's about 3 1/2x1 1/2x1 1/2. The box has a hinged lid and it fits in the bed of the truck. I haven't worried about it being stolen because when the trailer is hooked up there is no way to get the box out of the truck and when the trailer is off I have a Bedlocker bed cover.
