I only have one AC so I bought an adapter from CW 50 amp twist to 30 amp plug and use a 30 amp extension cord. The 50 amp cord is stored in a container but rarely comes out.

In the past I used a antifreeze drain pan you just have to cut the nozzle off and its large and you don't have so much trouble rolling the 50amp cable, it will be a much larger role. However my Landmark by Heartland has a electric rewind for the 50 amp, just push a button and it will rewind the 50amp cable. GBY....

Best single "accessory" I ever purchased:
Powered (12V) Electric cord reel and (50A) cord.
Yes "pricey" - but it's a *lifetime item.

Mounted in basement storage.
Pull out only what you need.
Push button - reel in when done.
Cord is much better quality than the original (more flexible).

*If I ever upgrade (newer, larger, or?) RV -
the cord & reel will go with me!

Hi Dave, I agree with CardnialCamper, I use one of those milk cartons from WalMart, cut a big hole in side and strung cord through it, so carton is always with cord. I just roll it up in carton and set on rud inside of entrance of 5er. Last thing in and first thing out. John

I dont use my cord right now.I am parked at a permanent site and bought an addapter to a 30 amp . I run a heavy duty extension cord off the addapter to the 30 amp plug. The camp ground doesnt have 50 amp service. I did not want my cord out with an addapter on. I was afraid some one would swipe my cord when Im not here. I would think you could get about 200.00 at a scrap yard for that thing

Second BINGO! I've got a bunch of these in storage now (and I threw away a bunch too). Nice and compact and should handle the weight well...

We also only have one AC unit and don't always use it so that's an option too.

THANKS!!! More ideas welcome.

ditto the milk crate. i have a rectangle one and i punched out a hole in the side just big enough for one end to fit through. makes as manageable as possible, given what it is. i leave just enough through the hole to get from the ground to the plugin on the camper, and coil the rest inside. it works as good as ive seen.

I use a 5 gal bucket. Cut a hole in side at the bottom for the 5th end and coil the rest. I didn't think it would fit either, but it does, and you have a handle to pick it up. Oh, the 5th end should be long enough to reach from ground to receptical. When unpluged, just put the end in the bucket down the coil. Works great for me.

The weight and size of the 50A cord is the reason I went out and purchased a 30A which gets used most of the time. I don't have a washer/dryer so the only time I need the 50A cord is when I'm running both A/Cs. The 50A is stored in a plastic bin.
