Lwmuddy: were still back at the starting point. Can you explain further what your computer is doing that you say is a virus?

Pete42, are you sure you're talking about a popup blocker, and not your firewall? A popup blocker only works to block display of an unwanted web page on your browser and should not hinder any downloads. I think you actually had to disable your firewall, and then were susceptible to a virus attack. Have you tried a top line virus killer?

Old desk top won't boot anymore I'll take it to shop soon.
You Mac users please don't tell me that I should have bought a Mac.
You don't know why I bought the computer in the first place.
Second the virus could have come from anywhere computer started acting up
after I turned off POP-UP BLOCKER to down load songs from Amazon.
No I did not back up all my data just the stuff I think is important.
But before I sound to upset with the answers I received thanks for the ones that fit or help me to understand what happened.
I would like to buy a wiz-bang mega buck PC but like a lot of things in life it's not what you have but how you use it!
