Anyway. We were at a NC beach CG on Topsail Island last week. Noticed lots od dogs. Nom problem, We like dogs. However, most of the dog owner's there were not what you would call good owner's.
We were out on the beach. Fellow brought his dog out. Dog did his business. Did the fellow clean it up? NO. He brushed sand over it, and walked off. We noticed this going on quite often from all the dog people except one older lady who picked up after her dog. There were signs at the beach access tell them to pick up after the dog. Big signs. It appears they couldn't read.
Please. If you take fido out on the beach. Pick it up, don't cover it up. Cause the little baby playing in the sand next hour. Will find it, and it is just nasty. Wonder what the inside of their RV looks, and smells like?
First, if you have a plural noun, you do not use apostrophe. If you are using a possessive noun, then use the apostrophhe.
Secondly, many dog owners look the other way when the dog "goes". I find that unacceptable, but find that the behaviour has little to do with the cleanliness of their homes.

Now on with my speech. I find in my surveys of watching dog being walked, so they can do their business, that about fifty percent of the dogs owners pick up after their animals. The rest just leave it lay there. It is this latter fifty percent that gives all dog owners a BAD reputation when it comes to being neighborly.

Unfortunately you will find this type of loser everywhere. When ytou encounter this type of dog owner, run away as fast as you can. The water at this beach is probably very high in ecoli and your dog will get sick if you let it play in this environment. Hopefully the next beach will have responsible dog handlers.

That's why you always carry extra bags, I never hesitate to offer a baggie to someone that has "forgotten" to pick up the poop.
They either are embarassed and take the bag....
They get angry and tell you *#@**##***
Then I get a little miffed because if they continue with that behavior we will all lose access to the beach because of their actions.
Sadly these kind of inconsiderate people live within our society. No doubt they cause problems for people who are more responsible because the tendency is to see one of them and then paint every dog owner (or other category of person) with the same broad stroke.
Since we own dogs we always have clean up bags with us when we walk. If we see someone not picking up after their dog one of us will nicely offer that person one of our bags, saying something like "Oops I see you've forgotten your bag, here have one of ours." The VAST majority of the time they take the bag, thank us, and go about cleaning up after their dog. O.K. so a few have been uncooperative but I just clean up after their dog (hopefully as they look on so as to set an example) and then we move along.
Everyone is responsible for our environment. That includes all manner of things to do to be considerate of the next person, a few of them are:
Picking up trash (not just ours but that left behind by others)
Not pouring milk, soft drinks, etc. on to the ground
Using an ashtray or other container for cigarette/cigar butts
Never throwing a dirty diaper on the ground, anywhere (done far too often!)
Not using pesticides that will linger for the next user
And so on.....
There is no need for rants about bad behavior, there is a need for some common sense. As well as what can hopefully be a learning curve by setting an example for those who seem to have made it to adulthood without that "common sense".

We have three dogs and it really chaffs my a@@ when people don't pick it up. When this happens, we get the dirty looks when we walk our dogs because people assume we don't pick it up. I hope the giant plastic grapple pooper scooper in my hand re-assures them. Hope my grammer looks ok.

They just banned cigarette smoking on the beach of Chicago because of the butts 'littering' the beach, it got days of news coverage AND it comes with a hefty fine if caught. I immediately thought that this should have been for owners of dogs who don't pick up.
WHY or WHY can't they pass laws like this for owners who allow their dog's to 'litter' the beaches?.....which INMHO is far more dangerous than a cig butt for the people who frequent beaches and like you mentioned especially children who play in the sand and do put their fingers in their mouth.
As far as CG's go. I still think if a CG owner would take one hour out of one day and walk the CG and fine or eject people for not picking up it would dramaticallly reduce the number of the inconsiderate campers. You'll find most people abiding by the rules for quiet time after a certain hours and usually if they are still going strong at midnight or have a gen running the CG owner 'will' say something, so why don't CG owners start 'enforcing' the pick up rule? I've seen it happen at every CG I have been in and repeated for days yet the CG owners say nothing to the offender.
I personally think a bonus of some sort for annomyous(sp?)turning in of owner's who don't pick up would be a riot and in fact help clean up our CG's even it just meant the owner had to go back and pick it up!.

I agree with the others, I offer the non-cleaners a bag when I see their dog dump in a campground. (never came across it at a beach). If they ignore me, then I'll pick it up. And..... in most cases follow them back to their site to find out where they are. Then I'll leave the doo bag on their picnic table or RV step.
CatandJim have a good point. We should all take responsibility for cleaning up wherever we see trash or other waste. My spouse and I have made it a point to frequently carry trash bags when we hike. We'll hike in to some place, the pick up trash on our way out. (all that bending is good exercise) Once we got lucky and found a $20 bill on the ground under some bushes. We figured that was nature's way of telling us thank you. We had a nice steak for dinner that night....
