We've owned our MH since 2004. Have almost 1000 hours on it. So, I guess we use it quite a bit.
Will be using it this weekend, but will shut it off at night. Also now use a Genturi.
I change the oil/filter every 100 to 150 hours and run synthetic.

After Hurricane Charlie we ran ours for 7 days, 24/7 before power was restored to our stick house. The Onan didn't miss a beat. In addition to powering the MH the Onan also powered 3 refrigerators and freezers.

Started mine at 6:00 pm Friday and shut it down about 6:00 Sunday. We had a 2 day radio controlled car race in the middle of a asphalt parking lot and it was HOT, but the motorhome was cool. I bought it to use and use it we do, almost every weekend, but 2 day races only happen twice a year.

No quiet hours. But Genturis are required and no external or portable gensets allowed, so it really isn't that noisey. The AC's help drown the noise. And yes, its Florida so it is still in the 90's in September and most of October.

We tailgate Florida football games and run ours 700-800 hours per year. Seven home games we run it 50 hours a weekend and for some games eg Georgia, run it from Wednesday until Sunday. 20,000 hours is not uncommon on many of the gensets. Precisely. During football season the genny will be kicking from Friday to Sunday. And at the races it'll be kicking from Thursday to Monday sometimes. It's there, I need it, so I use it.

I could understand if other areas have different rules. I know it can stay hot at night in many places and require AC at all hours.
Just wondering, I've only camped and done sporting events in So Cal. So far, I should add. ;-) Different sections have different rules. The sections we stay in are for self-contained motorhomes only. So generator noise really isn't an issue. However, in the 5th wheel and tent areas the noise from the cheap/loud generators can be a real nuisance.

I was thinking about building a "hushbox" for my Generac, so as not to bother my neighbors and to reduce the noise level in the cockpit.
Anyone tried this? - Suggestions?

Search the site. A couple of posters here have done some VERY good work. One is Jauguston and the other is a moderator, either dick or melm, I think.
And a big THANK YOU for considering your neighbors and wanting to quieten that Generac.

My daughter is a leasing agent at an apartment complex in Baton Rouge. There are 3-50 ft concrete RV pads (no hookups) in the outer area of the complex and we are allowed to stay there. It is dry camping. Several times, we've visited from Thursday-Sunday. In South Texas and Louisiana, our temps run 90+ with 90+ humidity. Without the genset running, the inside temp would exceed 110 degrees even at night.
I start the generator before I crank the diesel for our trip over and it runs until we return, sometimes 4-5 straight days. I have hundreds more hours on the generator than the RV engine, and it doesn't bother me a bit. You have to ask yourself, 'what are you saving it for?'
We bought the RV for comfort while driving. Seems like the air conditioning is a big part of that.
