Thanks for the info guys. I may have a look at a few 5'ers just to keep my options open. Easier to set up sure sounds good.
S.Lawsson, hope you enjoy your stay. We will be out to Bellview before the summer is over. We like the sites down by the beach. This weekend we are going to stay at Putt and Paddle, which is a little West of Bellview Beach.

YnotTurbo, You state "you lose the truck bed" is because the hitch is always in there when not towing or you can't get a much stuff in the bed while towing? I'm asking just for clarification, no other reason.
My hitch comes out and leaves a flat floor. Also, I do put things in the bed while pulling the fifth wheel, I just make sure the don't interfere with turning and the light cord. I also make sure things are straped down so they won't blow out.

You have to be careful with things in your bed with a 5th Wheel. They will blow out of the bed, as there is a lot of different wind currents in the bed. I have a large box (Truck Trunk) in the front of the bed and a V-Box behind the hitch. To bad Truck Trunk went out of business as they are nice boxes. Chris

With the pin and hitch in the center of the truck bed you can get a longer trailer without increasing your overall towing length.
On a long bed it would shorten the lenth around 7 or 8 feet I believe.

Guess I will be different as I prefer the TT over the 5th w. I carry a lot of "stuff" in my P/Up bed instead of in the TT also have a topper over the bed.
As far as hooking up I do that by my self, no problem. Ease of towing is as good
as the three 5th w that I had. I was a truck driver for years so backing anything comes easy for me but for me the TT is easer to back into a tight space

Watch the pin weight as it may limit the size of the 5er vs. TT.

Jacobsboy, Your profile shows you have an F-150. This truck would be limited to 5th of smaller pin weight. If you are looking at a 28 foot 5er or more, you'll want a larger truck to pull it. The pin weights, and overall weight on a TT are generally much lighter, so you can use your current truck with a comparable sized TT.

also ceiling height, many TT floorplans are comparable to FW but the FW has a higher ceiling and feels more spacious inside.
