Thanks for the responses. Not sure where I will purchase but it looks like a 12 ton bottle jack is the way to go. Regarding the torque issue, I definitely will have any tire I change serviced asap. I have ERS but just want to have the ability to take care of things in an emergency.
I have a 26 foot TT now, and carry a 3 ton floor jack in the bed of the truck, When I had a Class C, I carried a 12 ton bottle jack. I made a saddle for it that had a V shape on top to fit under the rear axel and a hole on the bottom for the ram to fit into. I had to use it once and felt more safe using the saddle than just puting the ram up a spring plate and hopeing it didn't slip off.
We learned the hard way in the middle of nowhere in Utah that the 3 ton jack that was there when we bought the unit wouldn't cut it for our 30' Gulfstream. Luckily, a forest service fire crew came by with a 20 ton jack or we may still be there! I highly suggest trying out the jack before you head out to make sure it works and you have everything you need. Oh, and by the way, check out the spare while you're at it. I checked the pressure in it, but hadn't taken it off. It sucks to have the rig jacked up and realize that the spare tire carrier is rusted solid and the bolts have to be cut off. It was a day (actualy 2) of lessons that I would have prefered not to learn the hard way.
I carry a hydraulic bottle jack and the factory wind up bottle jack to use as a safety jack stand. Be sure your wheel wrench has a long enough bar to get the lug nuts off. They can really be on there. I also carry an inexpensive bending bar torque wrench to put them back on.

Excellent idea. That is one thing that bugs me. The other is the lack of surface area at the base.
I have carried a floor jack before for special missions. I had to use it once for a flat and didn't regret tripping over it for the entire trip.
