I keep a full tank of fresh water because 1: I know the water came from a reliable source (my home) and 2: It add's stability to my ride as the 30 gallon tank is in front of the rear axle and helps balance my weight.

Thank you for all of the advice. I will will fill up the water tanks. My wife will be happier.
Sounds like a good decision for you, but if you do get a chance to weigh your unit; you can confirm whether a full tank is good or bad. Some Fords have too light of a front axle, if the tank is between the axles - fill with water providing the back axle can take the extra weight. If your tank is in the rear and your rear axle is close to its' rating, then consider something less than a full tank.

As others have said, doubtful if it will affect your MPG.

Unless I know I'm going to dry camp, or escape a hurricane, I usually keep the water level at 25% for a long drive. The steering is much better behaved for me, as my water tank is at the absolute rear of the unit and unweights the front tires, causing a noticeable increase in wandering.
