Just returned from Lithia Springs COE at Lake Shelbyville, IL and the lake is up about 15 feet...here are some pics of the flooding. The marina is underwater, and a few of the campsites too. All beaches are inaccessible and closed for the summer, most likely. Still had a good time and still able to catch some fish and swimming was great at the waterpark in town....

Kinda reminds me of the Johny Cash song, "How High is water Mama, Two feet High and rising".

That's a lot of water. It's too bad about the flooding especially during their peak summer season.

I thought the same thing when I saw the statement about the lake being up 15 feet. we need Dolly to make a right someplace after she gets inland and hang out over N Georgia for a few days. (But we DID have a nice shower last night!!)

No, sorry, it was my first summer trip to the area. But the "park" shots are of the "Dam West Recreation Area" and it's got all sorts of picnic areas, shelters, concessions, beach areas and shore-fishing areas that were submerged. The Lithia Marina is using their pontoons to shuttle people from the parking lot to the actual marina office/store, because the road to it is flooded.
We were unable to rent a boat so this was the extent of the flooding that we were able to see. We drove thru Coon Creek and Oppossum Creek COE campgrounds in the area on Saturday and they were pretty empty...I imagine this has put a damper on all things lake related...
I was told because of flood levels along the mississippi they are only able to release 1/2 foot of water per week, they expect the beaches to be closed thru Labor Day.
I have no idea if the flooding extended to any private property or if it was limited to COE and State parkland....
