Need help! My cursor jumps around all the time. Example, when I type a e-mail the cursor will jump and start typing at another location, or when I am sending e-mails to a number of individual, I use the Bcc to hide each name, but the cursor will jump to the To: block. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Any help would be appreciate. Thanks...Your friend Houston

I ahve had that problem for several years, intermittently, on WinXP, on some but not all of the computers I use.
I have never been able to figure it out. I am interested in any suggestions others might have.

desktop or laptop????
assuming laptop, happen to have a touchpad??? I have had a lot of issues with touchpads that support "tapping"...
Usually an advanced option to disable... Tapping is what let's you tap on the touchpad to "double-click"... Causes some of the issues you are talking about.

You may have a bad keyboard. They don't last forever and they aren't so expensive you couldn't just replace it. If you have another one available, try typing with it. You can also plug an external keyboard into most laptops.

Well, at least for my situation I don't think it is the keyboard. I say that because it most often happens in FireFox and I have never seen it at all in IE. Once it happens, it wanders around randomly even outside the firsfox window. It only happens for about 10 seconds, so there is no time to close FireFox to see if the problem goes away.
I have FireFox also installed on Win2k, and it never happens.
In my situation I think it is FireFox for WinXP that has the problem, but I can not prove that.

Have you tried a different mouse or a different mouse driver?

Go to the Mouse settings in Control Panel/Pointer Options and check if the Snap
To button is turned on.

If you're using a ball-type mouse, you may need to clean the inside. The ball can be removed revealing some rollers inside. These will collect all kinds of dirt, grease, etc., and sometimes will not contact the ball so that it moves properly. An optical mouse will not have this problem.
If it's a touch pad, very dry fingertips may cause a problem. There must be a certain amount of conductance between the skin and the touchpad for it to work properly.
