Hello,
Just recently bought a 2006 Skyline Nomad 268LTD travel trailer. I can't seem to get the water heater to light or the oven. The stove top burners do light so I do know that I am getting gas from the bottles to the burners - but can't seem to get it to flow to the water heater or the stove.

I have run the gas on the burners for while light and unlight - just to ensure any air is out of the line. So am stumped as to why I can't get the other two (oven and water heater) to light up.

If there some kind of valve or something that could be closed as I don't get any gas down around these area's.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The water heater and oven have a thermocouple that needs to be heated up before the gas will flow. You need a gas lighter, not a match, to heat them up. It is located right where the pilot light is. Just hold flame on this for a while. It may have to purge the air out of the line first so it may take a while. You also have to hold the oven control knob in while trying to light it and you have to hold the gas valve on the water heater down while trying to light it.

First, did you light the pilot light in the oven? If no, then you should do this first.

Second, can you smell gas after these items don't light up? If not, then you may just have air in the lines that needs to be purged.

I have a Layton TT and it takes a while to get the gas through the lines after it's been sitting unused for a while. The fridge and water heater take the longest. Sometimes it takes up to five or six tries to get the water heater and fridge to light. Before you wait that long though, make sure you're not smelling unlit gas by these vents, so to avoid any unwanted fires.

Good luck.
