My oldest girl who lives in San Monica, CA. just told me she is seeing many more RV's parked for the night on the streets near where she lives. She said in the day time they are gone. But parked near a business or store with people setting out side, some times with there dogs. Then at night back parked along the street where car used to park. Should we call them RV subprime street people.

Should I be ashamed to admit that I have thought about doing this myself?

Not necessarily for economic reasons, but for the "freedom" of it all.

The economy isnt in very good shape. I saw two couples with children that lost their homes in the Phoenix, AZ area in April that had bought RV's really cheap and moved into them in an RV/Trailer park. Where I live in Washington a family of 5 is living a couple of doors down in a 300 square foot house used mostly as a bachelor pad. The biggest employer in our town has layed off 20% of its work force and the construction industry is suffering.

Back to the subject of urban boondocking or stealth boondocking. I have seen a lot of single guys do this with class b rigs and even small class c rigs quite successfully. Most of them usually end up knowing the cops and finding places the cops wont bother with.

the bad part of it will be areas creating new laws to stop people from doing it.it could easyly be done in a van or class B in 24 hr parking lots for stores, theres a few stores open 24 hrs a day around here which would be perfic places to park and no one would pay much attention just move around from place to place every night.if you park there enought they might think you work there.

Sounds like a California thing. The state motto is If it moves regulate it until it stops, when it stops tax it until it's on welfare.

When I get to heaven,
I shall see three wonders there.
The first wonder will be to see
many there whom I did not expect to see.
the second wonder will be to miss
many people who I did expect to see.
and the third and greatest of all
will be to find myself there.

There's a guy at work that does this with his wife and daughter.

Also, a number of rigs are occupied in the storage yard where I keep my rig.
