We just purchased a 21FSB and took our first 5 night trip in it. Honestly, I have only great reviews of it. The front storage is huge, the craftsmanship is above all others we looked at and no reason to bring it back to the dealer for tweeks yet. We would highly recommend North Trail.

There are 2 forums you should check out:

and
http://www.northtrailtalk.com

These have helped us quite a bit.

Let us know how you make out.

What model are you looking at?

They do a good job of marketing themselves, but I'm not convinced they are all that special. When I sat down and compared specs and prices side-by-side between the North Trail 31QBS and quad bunk ultra-lites from competing manufacturers, the Heartland fell short on a number of measures, including wall and roof insulation, warranty, propane capacity, furnace BTU's, etc. Many other manufacturers also include an LCD TV at no charge, whereas North Trails don't come with one at all. What probably killed my enthusiasm the most was the "Half Time" oven. I want a separate conventional over and microwave, which isn't offered on the North Trails I was looking at.

I was more impressed in the end with the Keystone Laredo, Coachmen Captiva and Forest River Surveyor line.

Hi,

We talked our friends who owned a Wildwood into a new Heartland Northtrail from Lakeshore RV (wholesaler). What made me suggest to them to checkout Heartland was their reputation as a manuf. who listens to customers, supports their products and as inovative in changes.

Checkout the Heartland Northtrail site - they literally rip apart other brands and show you just how they are built, the good and bad!!! In my opinion the structure, design, features and quality is topnotch in it's price range.

So far our friends are VERY pleased with their camper and feel the unit is much better assembled then their prior Wildwood.

Just bought one 3 weeks ago after looking at alot of other bunkhouse models since Jan. Got the 2 thumbs up from the wife when we ran into the 31QBS and the search for our next TT ended. Did research on the brand and liked what I saw so we made the purchase, so far, so good! It not coming with a crappy flat screen TV was not a factor, being we already have 2 and we rarely used the oven in the last 2 TTs we've owned, so no big deal. Got to admit it's a great looking TT, matches perfectly with our white suburban.

I stepped in one the other day and liked it. It is a consideration next time around, which may be sooner than later. However, I can't really go nuts on a company that has only been around for about four years. How good of (and realistic) reputation can you get in only four years? Their construction seems very mich lile Jayco with bonded walls and warranty. Hmmmmmm. Are they being backed by Jayco in some way behind the scenes?

The walls may be bonded (vacuum laminated, industy standard) but unlike Jayco the Heartland walls are more like the Surveyor line from Forest River in that they don't stud out every 24" like Jayco. Like Surveyor, they fully box all openings, have more studs per wall and the actual wall thickness is 2" thick, not 1 1/2" thick.

The roof also insn't flat like some Jayfeather models.

As far as company stability. How long was Sunline around when they went unsder? How about some of the other's like Fleetwood or Monaco who just closed 3 plants? Heartland has actually had very good success with their products. Keep in mind the manuf. warranty is very short on all RV's and they all share common parts from companies like Norcold, Dometic, etc which carry their own warranty.

We own a 30qbs. had it out for a 4 week run. Everything seems to be good. A few minor problems, but dealer will look after these in sept, after holidays. Weights in at 5900 lbs Max 6900 gvw. Pull well with a chevy 1500. One reason we bought was not having to buy new TV. Crowned rubber roof, Can walk on it without worry. We checked out other at rv shows and dealers. After a month of investagating everything, we choose this one, Price difference for 28- 33 foot was only in the 4 to 6,000.00 range.

Last time we looked at the Heartland line was two years ago. They had many problems with their trailers. Though they did keep switching different product lines in manufacturing to bring quality up they still had serious problems with in the field warranty work.No dealers!!
They changed their flooring from exterior plywood to the OSB board and had problems with that.

We eventually settled on the Jayco line and have been very happy..

BTW, I just went over to the Heartland Owners forum Heartland
and they still are having problems.

If you have a good one then hold on to it...
