Prospective Trailer is:
Forest River Salem 26TBSS
Hitch Weight - 805lb
Dry Ship Weight - 5880lb
GVWR - 7805lb
Looking for TV thats not diesel, not a flat bed.
Essentially looking for an SUV.
Assuming 1,000 lbs. stuff
400lbs of passengers
130lbs of dogs
water tank empty.
Fairly flat terrain.
Mainly a question of comfort in the drive and sway.
Not too worried about blasting up hills, just enough to get up the hills and not trash the TV

How long is the trailer? You'll need to keep wheelbase in mind too; I'd recommend the largest SUV you can find (Excursion/Suburban) because of that factor. Be aware that any options the dealer adds to the trailer will increase its base weight.
Be sure that any SUV you get has the heaviest-duty tow package available from the manufacturer, or it may not have the oomph to tow the trailer - at least not in a way that will make you happy.

SUVs like the Chevolet Suburban or GMC Yukon XL. I'd opt for the 2500 model, as you are probably going to be towing about 7,000 lbs. fully loaded.
Another often forgotten tow vehicle is a full-size van. The 2500/3500 models make fine tow vehicles as well as people movers.

You don't have a 5800 pound TT, you have a 7805 pound TT. Your trailer will definitely NOT be 5800 pounds loaded. You're probably looking at 7000 pounds loaded at a minimum.
A used Ford Excursion would be at the top of my list, but if you want new, I'd suggest the longer wheelbase Suburban/Yukons or longer wheelbase Expeditions (only the newer models were available with longer wheelbases). As the others have mentioned, the long wheelbase Suburbans and Yukons are available in 3/4 ton models, which would be ideal.
The short wheelbase Expedition, Tahoe, and Yukon might be rated nearly that high, but your stability won't be great.

So, your opinion would be that even with a Tow capacity of 8k, an expedition would not have the wheelbase or power to tow this TT comfortably --- correct??
the above comment mentions expedition -- presumably talking about the expedition EL ??

An Expedition would be pretty close. Length would not be the problem. Expes are pretty stable. But, Even with a 8000lb tow cap. Once you subtract the weight of the family. That 530 lbs, you mentioned. You have only 7470lb tow cap left. So you have a 610lb cushon if you do in fact keep it to 1000lbs of cargo. Might be ok on the flats.
Will say. My 02 Expedition towed our 28' TT very well, with no sway at all. As stable as my 145" WB F150. But my TT isn't as heavy as yours

You could also get a 3500 van to handle that heavy TT. Or a 25 to 3500 level 4 door truck. My truck is rated for over 8000 lbs, but by the time I load it up with kids, dog and firewood; I use up the gcwr and my real tow rating falls to 7200 lbs when the truck is at gvwr. Expeditions and Suburbans don't handle as much weight as trucks because they have more body and carried weight. See what the curb weight is on the prospective TV and add what you need to carry. From that you can work out tow vehicle GVW (actual weight) vs GVWR and see how much TT the TV can handle. Finds this by taking GCWR minus GVW of the tow vehicle.

There's a nice 2005 V-10 Excursion at Texas Direct Auto for around $13,000.
