Or instead of all this bickering, get a short box crew cab 3/4 ton truck and add a nice canopy to the back. Looks good, provides lots of good dry storage, is still manageable to drive and far easier to find at a fair price.

I did not look up your trailer but I assume the 26 means it is 26 feet long. If so, look at the Nissan Armada. It has a 5.7l V-8 and is rated to tow 9000 pounds. I have seen this vehicle in parking lots and at campgrounds but have never been able to locate the owners to ask them how it handles. The early Armada's had brake issues that have been solved.
I tow a 24 foot trailer with my Tahoe. It does really good on all but the steepest, longest hills. Even then it pulls pretty good.

thanx for the input. looking cheap and looking used ---
would any of these work???
Ford E350 Club Wagon XL

12 Pass
Chevy G3500 Exprs Ext Base
8cyl 5.7 L 2002

Dodge B3500 Ram
Maxi 2000
8 Cyl 5.2 L

assume the higher 4.1 axle ratio.
I'm figuring 8k tow capacity would be needed to be comfy, and the 130in wheelbase.
From what I was able to find these wouldnt fit the bill, but not sure if I'm getting the right info. I mainly used the trailerlife tow guide info.

The Expedition's Class IV hitch isn't designed to handle that much tongue weight. I think the max is 860lbs with weight distribution hitch. You're almost at max dry!
Those big vans are all good but the small V8's won't cut the load. Get a V10 Ford Club Wagon or v10 Excursion .

Any of those vans will have the weight capacity being 3/4 and 1 ton vans. But you're going to be wishing for more power with ALL of those engines. Don't even consider the Dodge 5.2, you'll hardly move.

I sure enjoy towing with my new Sequoia. 5.7L, 4.30 gearing. Mine easily tows my 4550# dry just fine in Colorado with full tanks. I wouldn't want to pull the 9600# it is rated for, but it should pull yours.

I have the Salem 26TBSS and don't have problems towing it with my 1500 Avalanche or my 1500 Suburban. I have Putnam Class IV hitches and do not recommend using the OEM Class III's. With that said, I would rather have the 2500 versions of my TV's or maybe an Excursion. I have not had any problems, but I do find myself taking it really easy on the hills. The Avalanche really likes the high RPM's normally so when the trailer's on there, I gotta really watch it.

doko,
If you haven't already...head over to Ford-Trucks.com and join...there is a dedicated Excursion forum...
Congrats on the Ex...and welcome to the KING of SUV club!
I towed our previous 7500# TT over 7000 care free miles behind this Ex...it is a GREAT vehicle...does have some quirks when you get too long and too heavy on the tongue...but your TT should be an excellent match...
I'm X_Hemi_Guy over on FTE...
