Does anyone have the 2009 Jayco Octane toyhauler. I was on a lot checking out toy haulers and was comparing an 08 againts an 09. I noticed a few differences, but the biggest thing that stood out as problematic to me was the changes they made on the door. The older model allows the door to be fully opened and latched against the exterior wall. The new model had a piston shock absorber type mechanism mounted on the top of the door into s bracket thats mounted on the exterior wall. The piston mechinism only allows the door to open halfway, (perpendicular to the wall). Any attempt to open it further, which feels like natural thiing to do, especially if you pan to just use the screen door, causes the top mounting bracket to easily pull away from the experior wall. As a matter of fact, the 09 model I was looking at was already broken, the bracket had pulled away and screws were loose or missing because of it. At the very least this poor design will for water to make its way behing the siding.
