I won't go into the minutia, but here's an overview:

I have found that mesh bags work really well for clothing. It stays more organized. I have been using mesh bags for more stuff since I just started with clothing.

I put an overhead net to carry light bulky stuff like chips and bread. I learned that from the movie Das Boot.

In the outside bins I segregate "clean" stuff form "icky" stuff. One bin has the ramps door mats, extra dookie hose fittings, yuck garden hose, rubber gloves, etc. and the other (clean) has the Weber grill, Coleman cooker, extra burner, folding oven and other food grade stuff along with extra drinks. Potable water hoses and fitting are kept away from "dirty" stuff in their own place.

I have also become adept at hanging things (first aid kit) or mounting them to a vertical surface (axe, saw, hatchet, etc) to keep things organized and not take up valuable cabinet space. It mitigates having a pile of stuff in a cabinet or bin.

Wire baskets are mounted to the inside of cabinets doors.

I put shelf liner foam between dishes and pots to keep them from clanking so much.

I have also found places like behind the jacknife couch to store/mount things.

I modified the framework under one dinette seat so I can put folding camp chairs under it.

I use velcro to stick stuff to the inside of the medicine cabinet to make more room and to keep it from dumping out when I open it. One of these days I'll take a pic of it. It's pretty cool with nets on the inside of the door.

Wherever it fits and makes sense. Use towels to pad the pots and pans to keep them from rattling. Too much like work to alternate plastic and metal!

Well, we just found the storage under the Sofa, lol.
After removing it to install the new wood laminate flooring. We realized how easy the front cover comes off. Just hooks right on or off. We thought it was screwed on, so we'd only fit small things in the back.

Now we will store our folding chairs and table, and the outside mat, there.

I put velcro in my medicine cabinet too. I got the idea when I started wondering how NASA keeps things from moving around.

For the most part heavy things are stored low, lighter things are high. Pots & pans under one dinette bench, canned and jar foods under the other. Toilet paper and paper towels are under the sofa. They're not heavy but I can get a lot of it under there. I have some Tupperware tumblers that I stack and lay the stacks on their sides.

I combined a couple of storage ideas I found on rv.net for storing glass wine glasses. Each stem is in a new tube sock and all they all lie in a basket that's kept inside a cabinet.

Something else I forgot to post that Kathy's post reminde me of. Look carefully at the pic she posted.

Like her I NEVER use full size containers for things if I can get away with it. I see no reason in the world to keep a year's supply (for a house) of window cleaner, shampoo, or medications in the RV. I have small containers of everything. I bought small squirt bottles for cleaners and reload them once a year or so. The drugs and stuff I do the same and rotate them out if they don't get used. You will be surprised at the space you save.

Thanks for the reminder, Kathy.

Tools, tents and canopy's go under a dining table bench. Hoses, extension cords, tire pump and heavy electronics go under the other bench. Over the dining area is the VCR and DVD stuff, also blankets and beach towels (inside plastic linen bags). Under the refer is pots and pans, also bathroom stuff like bath towels and extra TP since it's right next to the can. Under the sink is the rest of the kitchen utensils and a drawer for private bedroom stuff like the Bible, candles etc. since it's right next to the sleep sofa when opened. Over the stove is paper and plastic plates and cups, trays, paper towels and napkins. Over the sink is food like potato chips and other junk food. Over the sleeper sofa is some storage for things like kites and those umbrella looking screens that you put over your food to keep the bugs off. We love those things!
There is a little drawer right by the door where we keep gloves, flash light, flashers and other little goodies that we might need outside quickly. Sleeping bags are in one closet along with old shoes. Jackets are left in the other closet and an acoustic guitar sometime rides in there. Emergency food and water are always in an ice chest under the table because of events like today's earthquake. We pack our clothes in light weight sports bags and store them in the cab over. Everything stays in the camper except clothes, fresh food and whatever CDs or DVDs we bring. In the outside storage compartments we keep every kind of automotive fluid, gasoline, oil, brake fluid, etc. Also propane, electrical adapters, levelers and chocks, sewer stuff.

Thanks for posting this topic...I've been wanting to do the same, but felt a little silly. We are still new too, but a few things I've figured out:

Above sofa: I found plastic tubs, about 12" wide x 18" long x 9" deep that fit well in these cabinets. I have one tub for cleaning supplies, one for small loose items like bungie cords, and even an empty one. LOL

Bedroom: each of us has a plastic Folger's container for underwear, and one for socks. I stack them in the closets next to the bed.

Thx for the tip, Kathy and Daksuki!

I went and bought small travel sprayers and filled them up w/ cleaning liquids. The only thing I will keep full size is our Family bottle of 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner. Between 5 of us, plus guests, we go through it quickly.
I use the 2-in-1, in our RV to save time and water. I carry a bottle of hair detangler for our girls.
The small bottles of cleaning solution work great, because I don't use them very often while traveling. I just wipe and go most of the time. I do the real cleaning at home, there's too much fun to be had while RV'ing.

Another space/storage saver was mounting our LCD TV to a Cabinet. I Love that!

I love this topic and have gotten many new ideas from all of the posters. We purchased our motorhome last year after having a pop-up for about ten years. We had great times in that pop-up, but we are really enjoying this new motorhome. I, too, am often making changes to where we store stuff on the inside. The outside is my husband's domain.

We put heavier items on the bottom. Pots and pans go in the drawer under the stove, separated by a type of foam shelf liner or similar.

We do have a set of corning wear dishes only used when we grill stuff like steak, but most often use paper plates. I have a favorite coffee mug that I use purchased from one of our favorite travels. These few plates, paper plates, mugs, and disposable storage containers are in the cupboard above the sink. I use the liners between dishes and cups.

We have a front entertainment center, so the kitchen area has a lot of storage. One deep drawer holds the toaster, coffee carafe, extra paper towels, etc. One large cupboard we use as a pantry. Below the pantry is a shelf with a glassfront hinged door that we use to store bread and buns, and table placemats.

Under the dinette seat is one sleeping bag, one set of sheets and a blanket. Under the other dinette seat is an extra pillow, extra TP, a fold up broom, and a small hand vac.

Above the couch in the cupboards, we keep books, DVDs, cards, manuals, games, etc. Also, in one is a mini pillow and small afghan.

Under the bed we keep two laundry baskets, one for dirty towels, one for extra clean towels, and a mesh bag for dirty clothes. The bedroom cupboards and drawers store our clothes and towels to keep within reach.

We seem to have more storage than we need at this point! I wish I had that problem in my house!

All of these items we keep in the motorhome, all but clothes, however, I do keep a few sweatshirts and a robe in it at all times. Toiletries I keep in it, too, however, not using the large sizes. I do not keep any food, of course, in it when not in use.

So, far it is very comfortable and not overstuffed, but give us time!

Relax and enjoy your travels!
