While in RGV this past winter, we saw "homemade" awning deflappers made of PVC. Does anyone have "plans" or photos of these? We'd like to make our own. TIA

You can buy the 'real' ones at any RV store or camping world for 10.00.
They are great and work well, I don't leave home without them.

why does one need deflappers? I am new and I really don't get the need for them.

They keep the awning tight by cliping it to the extension arm.

I Made some, They are just a pvc pipe split to slide over the fabric! There are 2 Eye Bolts with Wing Nuts and Washers that Clamp the pipe tight and allow Bungee Cords to be attached to the awning Rafters!
Frankly they take up more space and don't work any better than the ones from CW!

Anytime we put our awning out, we always put our deflappers on. It's become part of our trailer setup.

Same here; they're so cheap to buy that it's not worth making them. They work really well I keeping the awning taut in windy areas and it also helps with water run-off in heavy rains.

yep.

I shall see three wonders there.
The first wonder will be to see

the second wonder will be to miss

and the third and greatest of all
will be to find myself there.

They come in handy if you camp along the shore where there is a constant breeze. It will stop the annoying flapping sound and will save the stitching on the canapy in the long run.
Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping

The deflappers also work great along with bungee cords for hanging a bedsheet between trees so you can project a DVD from a computer and have a movie night.
