We are in Alabama for a month and last night a huge
t-storm came up. I tilted the awning down and sloped it to one side. For awhile the water was running off fine. All of a sudden the clouds opened up and it came down in barrels, not buckets. Well, it bent the awning tube so this AM I am on the phone with GMAC insurance and M&C Mobile RV Service here near Birmingham AL. Both companies have been great to deal with so far. M&C says they will order the new awning today and may be able to come out by this weekend to fix it at our site since we cannot move the trailer.

I needed this fixed fast as we are down here for some Occupational Therapy for my son and the therapists come out to our site to work with my son 6 hrs a day for 21 days.

Bummer, those storms can open up the sky so suddenly you don't have time to react. I'm real lax on our awning and storms. I need to be more vigilant in watching over it when storms do roll in.

I always strap it down and I watch it like a hawk but the rain was well more like a light rain and them WHAM, I couldn't even see the road out of my window in the trailer so when I went out it was filling up with water faster than I could believe.

Ouch.

I would like to leave my awning out more, but those sudden storms will get you! At night or when we are away from the TT (day trips) or if it looks bad, the awning gets rolled up!

Hope it gets fixed fast and good!

Our thoughts exactly...Hurricane Dolly is coming into S. Texas and being at Canyon Lake (close to San Antonio) we're already getting some of the bands of clouds. So we were up early this morning and putting up the awning and all the outside goodies, getting ready for the rain and some wind. I think we'll be ok cause it's not coming our way, but safety first for us.

I could never understand the people that have seasonals that leave their awning down all the time. I know they have them tied down but with my luck, it would be gone if I left mine like that for a week. Here, I have little bit of rain that turns into a deluge and bam I am hosed. Next time, I will tie it down tight after I angle it all the way down. I will just have to use the rear door to go out an in so the awning won't rub on my door.

If there is any doubt about the weather I close my awning. Around here especially in the spring and fall when these fronts come rolling through I don't even open my awning unless I want to be outside because it can be dead calm one minute then flipping your awning over the trailer. Better to be safe than sorry.

Same happend here so I feel for ya'. I opted for an electric so the wifey can put it in or out at any time when I'm not around. We went with the remote option and I mounted the hard wired switch near the bed so late at night we can just reach over and presto.

Check the price between the two, you might be surprised.
