Noted that the refrigerator wasn't doing well during the daytime on two secessive 95 degree days. The RV was sitting out in direct sun both days. Went up on the roof and pulled off the ventalation cover to see if it was blocked. There was some debries in there but not enough to really cause a blockage. Noticed that the cover has 8 narrow slots versus the wide open grate under it.
I'm wondering that in very hot weather if 12v fan would assist in the cooling of the fins. Anyone tried this? Mount a small fan under the cover to get more air flow.

I believe that the installation of one was featured on the RV Roadtrips cable show on DIY NET. It was solar powered and looked easy to install. Have a look at www.diynet.com

I have mounted a 12v fan inside the top of the refrigerator flue to help exhaust the heat. Check for a dead zone above the refrigerator. Many rv refrig installs are like that. That dead area disrupts the natural draft of the flue. Since I couldn't close that off, the fan was the answer. pcm

Thanks for the link. I emailed it to my account since I'm visiting my son and using his computer.

Wally-World sells a Solar Powered Fridge Vent Cover just for that purpose. It's a little spendy but since it's solar it doesn't use your battery power.

I had the same problem in Myrtle Beach last week. I did move the little sensor down on the fins in the fridge and that seemed to help a little.
I was looking at those fans at the Camping World there and wondering if it's worth the money or not.

Fuzz, just an FYI...........
To get the refer colder, the thermistor needs to be raised higher on the fins.

it is common for the frig not to cool well in hot weather. AND a small 12v fan will help it cool a lot better. some people use small computer fans others get solar powered fans from RV dealers or catalogs, there are many ways to install a fan and put an off/on switch close by or put a temp control switch to turn the fan on when the outside temp reaches a certain temp.
