Ok, I do not want this to turn into a discussion of whether or not this hitch is needed, so please only answer if you can help with the question at hand! (Sorry too many topics get off track...)
We are going to be purchasing a Hensley Arrow (or the propride...). I have a couple choices. I can get an arrow that only has a 3 year warranty for about half price or I can spend $800 more and get one with a lifetime warranty. For those of you with this hitch, my husband is wondering if there are enough issues that we need that lifetime warranty or if there are really no problems with it over time and we will be fine with the 3 year warranty? The idea of a half price Hensley is almost too good to pass up (BTW, this is coming direct from Hensley so I am not worried about who had it last, etc. They are rebuilding it first.)
These things are built like tanks, I think I would pass on the "lifetime" warranty and save the $800. I just replaced a couple of parts on mine that had worn (it's 7 yrs old)and they sent me the parts for free under my lifetime warranty. BUT, they would not have been very expensive to buy either, so I would think you'd be fine with the 3 yr warranty. The main hitch assembly is very strong, it's only the ancillary things like pins, clips, and downtubes that can wear out.
Well, I bought my used with no warranty at all. I've had to replace a couple of parts, but Hensley was great to deal with and buying a few parts is going to be cheaper than $800. I'd take the lower price with the 3 year warranty....don't see how you can lose.

I was told recently by Hensley that they offer a lifetime warranty on used purchases (from them and others) for $500. Based on this information I would purchase the used one with the 3 year warranty and just before the warranty expires revisit the question. You'll at least be $800 ahead if not $300 not including the interest on the money not spent in the interim.
There are parts that wear. I have already made an exchange of the stinger to compensate for a changed TV. I think it is cheap, overall to have the warranty. It may not matter, and for me it would be no deal breaker. I wouldn't purchase an aftermarket warranty on a used car, but in this instance I'd think it worthwhile.
