Hey all, I will be pulling a trailer with electric brakes behind my coach, the Kodiak manual doesnt show a place to plug the controller in. I looked under the dash for a plug like the pickups have and didnt see one. Anyone know where its buried and what it looks like. I know what my 2500 p/u has... Thanks

The Kodiak doesn't come with a plug. You must hard wire the controller in. Search forum for info, it has been posted several times.

My brake controller is hard wired to the fuse box under hood (ground and + power). Wire for brake is first wire on brake switch (white wire) closest to drivers seat. You will need to run a wire (blue) back to trailer connector to complete install.

You don't need to run the blue wire all the way back as the connection for that is in the 7 way trailer plug at the rear of the motor home and the other end is in the loom behind the right front tire. Take the inner fender out , two clips, and find the big connector behind the tire, open up the wire loom to the front of that connector and you will find the blunt cut large blue wire for the brake controller.

Here is a link to the instructions on how to install and where the wires are from GM Upfitter.

Also do not wire the brake controller to the brake light switch under the dash, wire it to the body builder plug under the truck. The link will show you where. The reason you don't wire it to the brake light switch is the switch runs a relay which can handle the load, the relay is what makes that clicking noise you hear under the floor when you step on the brakes. The switch cannot handle the load and will burn out, and the wiring at the body builder plug is after the relay so it can handle it.Do a search and you will see that a lot of people have had a lot of problems with the brake light switch, and you don't want to make it worse and then not have brake lights or trailer brakes.

ASA Glamis might correct me on this , but if I remember right there is a white plug in the loom where you will find the blunt cut blue wire inside the taped loom, more clearly there are two big wire looms together behind the removable fenderwell, I found the wire in the one with the white plug.

I put a fair amount of time into trying to figure out how to wire my brake controller in my 07 Greyhawk with the kodiak chassis. Using the upfitter printout and another from the dealer in regards to brake controller installation, I ended up throwing in the towel. Nothing seemed to jive with either instructions and I didn't want to take a wild stab at it, so I had the shop do it. They had enough difficulty that it reportedly took them 2 1/2 hours to complete the job. I didn't expect it to cost $250 for installation, but I had no choice and had already wasted plenty of my time trying to figure it out.

I don't know if wire location, etc. varies by year and from Greyhawk to Seneca, but others on the forum were able to accomplish this install relatively easily. Good luck!

We had the same thing done to our 35GS Seneca. there is a 7 pin wire for towing, but the brake system is not setup. Playing it safe, We had the dealer install the brake controller. Takes the headache out of trying to do something I am not experienced in.

Based on our experience there are several ways to install the brake controller wiring. Using existing wiring, running new wires, etc. Either way you look at it leave it to the experienced ones.
