Hello,

Just wanted your opinion, I bought a new fiver with gel coat and paint. My question is should I wax it right away or give the paint time to cure. Thanks for your input.

If the unit is a few months old, it is ok to wax it.
I use a good paste wax, apply it in the shade.

Lot of different products that you can use to do the job. Gelcoat wax is excellent as is "Protect All". Nu Finish is also very good. Just about any product with carnuba wax in it will also give you a great shine and help keep the oxidation from showing up a couple of years down the road. There are waxes that you can use in the sun or shade that also will do a great job. Kind of a, "try a few out and see which works best on your finish". Watch the decals, some waxes, over time, if applied to decals, will cause them to start coming off, or even fading to some extent. Hope this helped.

Turtle Wax Ice is good. JUST remember only the PASTE version is for fiberglass per Turtle Wax. It is better protection as well.

I to have gel coat and the first week after we bought it I hand washed and waxed it. It took me the whole week. I'm at work right now and I don't remember which wax I used. It was for gel coat though.

I too have gel coated exterior and I use Nu Finish. I find it the easist to remove and last pretty long.My first coat went on at about 1 month, not sure if it was a good thing to do , but it sure was purty when done !!!!!!

Because if you don't it won't have that gel coat on it for long!!!!

You have to wax gel coat finish just the same as you do a standard fiberglass. The sun will kill it just the same.
