Why are you all waxing an RV with a gelcoat finish????

Makes it a lot easier to clean also. I've never had a black streak, ever. I've waxed the front cap several times and the bugs come off with a car wash brush.

I apply polish and a wax application to my rv and boats. They are all of some type of fiberglass with a gelcoat finish, though the boats are much thicker and higher quality. I use Maquirers Polish, applied with a low speed orbital polisher. When cured, I then follow that up with Maquirers Boat and RV wax, again applied with the same polisher. Nice shine and long lasting. Makes keeping the trailer clean much easier.

I just finished waxing mine - 35' Jayco Gel. I used Meguires Tech Wax II (paste) in a purple and green can. I did use a different applicator (one with a soft cloth cover) that the "sponge type" that came with the wax. I think it goes on better. Mine looks great for its trip to Myrtle Beach tomorrow!!! Yippee!!

I use Gel-Gloss on mine. It's sold at Home Depot for fiberglass. It's in the plumbing department. Goes on easy & comes off easy. Paste wax is usually for rubbing out paint. You just need a wax.

I just got done doing waxing mine yesterday, It has fiberglass on the front and back but metal on the sides.

The front and back had streaks on it so I got a cleaner/buffing compound/polish for fiberglass at the trailer parts store. The cleaner did well on cleaning most of the streaks off but some of the front has some light steaks still left behind hopefully I can get them to come off later, I tried both putting it on by hand and using a buffer and I didn't really see a differance between the two. The wax that was in the cleaner did not want to come off and left some swirl marks on the fiberglass so I used Nu-Finish on it after and it helped a lot. I still have to do the metal sides and am not looking forward to that at all.

Just make sure you set aside some time for this it is a long process. The 100 degree temps we have been having hasn't made it anymore fun either, I was starting at 5:30 in the mornings to help on the heat.

Look at the manufacturer's VIN # plate which should show the mfg date. If it's over 90 days (bet ya it's way more)wax away
