What kind/brand of chemicals to people here use in their cassette pottys or porta-pottys? There are lots of products around but most only give instructions/dosages for regular Black tanks . . . not cassette potties or porta-pottys.

We have been using the Thetford Blue stuff for years but are looking to find something without the Chemical Smell the blue stuff seems to have.

We tried Odorloss this summer and although it seemed to work pretty well after a few days, it didn't seem to control odor very well the first couple of days? In looking at the label I think I WAS using too much of it so on the next trip I will try to correct my dosage. Thanks Mike for pointing that out!

I also picked up a bottle of the Camco Orange TST treatment as well but have not tried it yet.

You hit the main problem our PP and casette toilet folks have with toilet chemicals. They read the dosage for the large gallon tanks and use it for casettes and portapotties.
To get the right dosage divide by the gallons of the Casette or PP.
Ex: 4 oz for 40 gallons means X/40 X 4 = correct amount. With X being the capacity in gallons of the casette or PP.
Folks think more is better and will control more odors, but in this case it usually causes more odors of a chemical nature.

Totally agree with mike4947. We use the blue stuff but only use about an ounce for the 5 gallon holding tank of the cassette toilet. We never have a problem with either chemical or waste odors.
