Had to buy two new front tires this week due to an alignment problem. I have the Goodyear 670's in a 275-70R22.5 and wanted to buy the same tire for replacements. I've had great success with that tire on my last two motorhomes. I had purchased a new set of the same tire for my old rig three years ago and I paid $310/tire. The ones I purchased this week were $530/tire mounted. That's a 71% increase in three years.
$530 was the lowest quote I received. Other quotes ran as high as $590 in the Raleigh, NC area. Just though I would pass this on along for those that are facing a tire replacement in the near future.
Another example of what oil prices are causing.

Costco has several Michelin tires for RVs at pretty good prices. No good year though.

I have an appointment for 2 new front tires on Tuesday Cooper 8R19.5 for $250 balanced, new stems and installed. I'm replaceing the front 2 Coopers that are worn after 8 years about 38,000 miles. Tires have no cracks or side wall damage just tread wear. Some tires are just build better than others. That's only about $45 more than I paid when I put them on 8 years ago.

You are paying 40% for the name and 60% for the tire. I use Toyo tires just for that reason, price is for the tire, not for the name. Michelin RV tires are junk and now Goodyear RV tires are approaching the same status with their rivering problems, but GY is denying they have a problem. Tell that to the hundreds of RVers that are throwing away low mileage tires that have started rivering and once started, can not be stopped.

trailmeisterjoe wrote: what is "rivering"? It is an abnormal wear pattern(wave pattern) on the front tires and once it starts, Goodyears says to move the defective tire to the rear, however, not one person has reported that the wear stopped with the move. Every report I have seen on this and other RV sites, have said that once the wear starts, it will continue and even accelerate, no matter what position the tire is mounted. This has just recently(past 18-24 months) been reported and usually starts with 3 to 11K miles on the tire and the tire is shot in as few as 3K more miles. Goodyear is blaming the RVers and refusing to accept responsibility, as Michelin did with their side wall zipper blowouts.
