My unit is 3 yrs. old now. I have continually cleaned the front fiberglass cap after each trip, stripping away the road tarr, dirt and bugs. As all fiberglass, unless especially prepared does it is now a cloudy white with no sheen at all.
I have polished my own cars all of my life, applying cleaning fluid or rubbing coumpounds followed by a paste wax until the original shine was restored.But fiberglass ain't like enamel paint.
What is the best way to restore the original shine????

Had the same problem, then used this stuff:
Protectall Fiberglass Oxidation Remover & Color Restorer
Restore color and luster to dull fiberglass as well as polyurethane and enamel painted metal surfaces with Protect All Fiberglass Oxidation Remover & Color Restorer. This moderately abrasive one-step product cleans oxidation, wax build-up, stains and surface scratches, then polishes the surface to a brilliant shine greatly enhancing the appearance and value of the vehicle.

Once you have the shine back, coat it with RejeX
it is really great stuff and the bugs usually wash off with a hose.

I just used that stuff and WOW it really works nice ! Goes on easy and comes off easy. The bugs ( what parts that actually stick) come off with a towel !!!!

I don't know if they still do it, but Sprint Car drivers used to coat the wings/'bodies' with WD-40 prior to "mudding-in" the track and often B-4 a heat race or Main Event, (mud, etc. slid right off easily). Worked fine for me the Summer of '69 I drove another guys car after he broke his back.
I have honestly sprayed the 5er. cap using the larger WD-40 container with spray attachment, and it worked as always. Fairly messy but a fun experiment, (I'm basically still kinda' "Shadetree" anyway).
I'm not sure, however, if the ingredients in this "Water Displacement/40th. formula" stuff is not harmful to fiberglass.

to get bugs off front cap, take a dryer sheet from the wife and wet it rub bugs and presto they are gone then do your waxing.
