I have been lurking for the last few months and researching just about every travel trailer manafacturer that I can find, so I thought I could introduce myself and ask a few questions. I will most likely purchase a new trailer in the next few months.
I have a concern about the durability of the light weight travel trailers and my weight. My weight will most likely fluctuate between 250-300 pounds. I am currently on a weight loss campaign again, so who knows where I will end up.
I have been researching the Forest River Surveyor 255KS and the KZ Spree 289KS. I feel that a King Bed is a must for my wife and I, so that limits what we can select.
I currently own a 2008 Toyota Tundra 4x4 with the 5.7 liter. I have noticed two complaints of soft floors with the Surveyor line due to the front steps being mounted into the sublfoor, I guess over time the studs loosen or poke through.
I understand the Artic Fox line is very durable, but they do not offer a king bed option and the wieghts might be too much for the Tundra.
Any ideas or recommendations from the SPREE or Surveyor owners? I guess others come chime in with other manafacturers as well. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I also have a 7 year old boy and a 3 year old boy and 1 year old chocalate lab....

I do notice the steps do not feel as firm as our prevous unit with frame mounted steps. Floors inside would not be a problem IMO.

I believe CW sells a step support that goes under the step after you are set up at a site.
The support keeps the cantilevered step from having to hold so much weight.
You, like myself must live in a High gravity area, I know it's not because I eat to much.

i have a surveyor 304le and i am 300lbs myself. only had the TT 2 months and so far i dont see any problems with the floor. i know what you mean about the king size bed, that is what i have at home, but the TT queen is plenty for the few nights at a time we camp. longest so far is a week and all 7 nights were very doable. just need to find a more comfortable mattress, but wasnt the issue. my main concern is when i purchase some maxxair vents, will the roof support me or will have i have to waste the money and pay someone to install them for me. i cant stand paying someone when i can do the job......

I have a 23' flagstaff ultra light, the previous owner broke some of the supports that hold the bed up. There nothing more than 2x3" knotty pine cut in 1/2 spaced out 12" on center. It would have held up better if it were clear pine with no knots.
Other than that my weight of 250lbs has not been a problem. My next trailer will not be an untra light though. Its just made too cheap for my taste.

We don't have any experience with soft floors, but we have had issues with beds. I think most RV's in the light category as well as shorter RV's regardless of weight have short Queen beds. Our Arctic Fox 29V has a full queen which has the same length as a King.
In general, I doubt that your weight would cause any real issues with any trailer. The floor may feel soft when you walk on it, but that's because it's not built like your house. A little flex doesn't mean it's going to fall apart.
Now, the mattress on the may be another story, so having a standard size mattress vs. a RV mattress would make replacing it with one that works for you much easier.

I'm 6ft and 315 lbs and all we did was put a two inch foam mattress pad on top of the bed and that works for us. DW is somewhat "fluffy" also. Of course, we don't have a light weight TT, but a 9500 lb loaded 30 foot Holiday Rambler Savoy LX. Works for us. JMHO

We have an 08 Spree 261RKS. I'm 300lbs and DW is following along nicely! No issue with the floors or steps and the queen bed in the 261 has not been an issue for us. I think it's pretty comfortable. I know I can't get on the roof, It's advertised as a walk on, but I ain't gonna risk it. I bought me a good ladder!! What I get concerned about is the walk in showers. One of the reasons we went with the Spree is bacause the shower floor didn't give when I stood in it. It stayed pretty firm. Many I got one foot in and thought, nope, that won't hold me.

WE have an 05 KZ 2809 with the rear Queen slide and have had no problems. I am 5'11" 350lbs on a good day and the DW is 5'8" and not to far behind me weight wise and we have had no problems with the floor, bed or shower. Like giblet says the shower doesn't give when i step in there and that scored big points for me and the bride. The floor does flex a bit but not enough to worry about it and the queen is solid as a rock. The bed doesn't have any give in it either. We really like the KZ line of products. Both sets of steps are very solid as well..

Thank you all for your responses. I was leaning towards the Spree 289KS and I think the comments about the shower floor have sealed my decision. I am in no rush to purchase I figure I will put some feelers out in the winter and have a trailer by summer of next year. Once again thanks for your comments.
