I've left my water softener and attached Watts regulator sit by the spigot for over a year and no one has liked it more than I apparently. If I spent my time being concerned about being ripped off at a camp site my RV experience would be ruined so I might as well stay home. My BBQ also sits on the table and no one has even looked it except when I'm cooking steaks. My fold up step is always by the door too and I still own that so don't worry about the small stuff, worry more about the price of fuel.

From what I have read, yes they do. As for taking the RV and Toad I don't think they will fit inside their bays! Just where did you read about people stealing water pressure regulators?

Many campground have a permanent regulator attached to each water faucet. It usually has a small setscrew to keep in on.

Those are not regulators attached to the faucets, they are back flow preventors required by the new plumbing codes and in many parts of the country EPA. They are there to prevent tainted water from flowing back into the water system.

brobox, I agree. In three plus years full time I only remember once that I ran into a campground that had in-place water regulators... they warned me that putting a second one in line might reduce the flow to a trickle. I'd already set up and it didn't. Why is it that I've never found a Watts regulator at any water spigot? I did find a plastic splitter once. I must camp only where folks are careful to take theirs with.

No, the ones I'm trying to describe is a pressure regulator. I know the difference between a back flow prevention valve and a pressure regulator. Graduated 8th grade and spent the night at a Holiday Inn.

We have been on the road for six years this month, and we have used Watts pressure regulators with a gauge on them the entire time, connected to a brass Y-valve and the water hose with brass quick-disconnects. They can all be removed in seconds.
If I were the sort who worries about theft, that hardware would be wa-a-a-y down on my list. The kind of folks who are RVers and who are savvy enough to worry about regulating the water pressure coming into their rigs are not the sort to steal that hardware.
I have lost several brass Y-connectors and the brass quick releases on them, but only by forgetting to take them with me. The one time I left the regulator, I called the park when we were a couple hundred miles down the road, and they had it for me when we visited there again a few month or two later.
Don't worry. Be happy!

We've had one for over 8 years and nobody has stolen it yet. Come to think of it, I never have had anything stolen from our campsites.
