Had to replace the battery on the tt. I asked my BIL who happend to be at our house at the time, to please undo the old battery so I could take it to the place I bought it from for the core charge. Well he did, and now I have no idea and neither does my DH which cable is the neg. and which is pos.
If this was a car battery not a problem, but these batter cables are black and white. I can't look it up because i'm not sure where the books for the tt are.
Anyone have any idea. Dh thinks the tt is probably wired like the a house would be, with the black being the positive.

Any help? Thanks.

White should be negative and either black or red is positive.

You can confirm negative by following the cables, they should connect to the chassis, that's the ground in 12 volt negative ground systems.
You can confirm the positive by checking where the cable goes, it should go to the fuse panel.
If you are just not sure get a little multimeter, they are under $20 at a home center, hardware or electronics store. Set it to the 20 volts DC scale, put the cables apart and power the converter up by plugging in the camper. DON'T let them touch metal, and don't let them touch each other when the converter is producing power. First test a good battery, put a probe onto each terminal. Then check the trailer battery cables. You can find positive and negative that way.

Take a multi meter and set it to check which cable is the ground by putting one probe on one cable and the other probe grounded to the trailer. The one that gives you a direct reading is the ground cable.

Thank you everyone, I will pass these along to my Dh so he can check this. I think he already has one of those meter things, but I bet it didn't even occur to him to use it.
He did tell me the next time, remember to have them mark the cables if something like this happen again.
Thank you again for your input and help, it is appreciated.

One post is bigger that the other. The cables will only go on one way without forcing them.

Good question to post. This is not something I've had to deal with, but I will check and label the cable this weekend!

safe travels,
