This spring, DW and I purchased a Coleman Roadtrip grill which has worked flawlessly this season. Then this Saturday evening, I was warming it up when I noticed flames coming from above the left side heat setting dial on the control panel 10 minutes after I fired it up. I quickly shut off the propane and put out the flames. The top left half of the plastic panel where the left flame control is melted away. It seems it has propane leaking out in the inner control when I later turned on the tank to check for a leak there.
Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Now I have to try to find the receipt from Menards so I can take it back.

Had my roadtrip grill for 5 years now. No probs but we've stopped using it too. Probably going to end up junking it just to get it out of the way. With just the 2 of us (kids are on their own now) we don't need a grill that big. Found a little one at walmart for under $20.00 with a latch to hold the lid down and folding legs.

Whenever I have seen this happen it has been caused by a spider nest in the tube between the control valve and the burner where the louvers for adjusting the flame is located. This causes the propane to backfeed thru the louvers and catch fire. Spiders love propane.

The spider nest seems to make the most sense. I will have to try to get into the inside of it and try to fix it. Appreciate the help!!!!!
