My freezer and refrig turned off a couple of weeks ago, we found it a week later. All meat defrosted and the smell is so bad. I can't seem to get it out. I put baking soda and borax, but nothing seems to work. Does anybody know what I can do?

Had it happen last year...

If you have an Agway or any other agriculture store go there and ask for an enzyme based organic cleaner. I think the product I got from Agway was called Enzyme Odor Eater...or somthing like that It was the only thing that worked for me. You spray it on and let it sit...do this a few times and you should be good. The enzymes eat the residual organic matter.

I was about to replace the fridge.

We don't have a Agway near here, I wonder what kind of store l can get something like it.
Would it be the same thing that you would use for pet smells?

Stick a bowl of ammonia in the fridge, with the fridge turned off. That stuff will kill ANY odor anywhere!

I picked up a very rare collector car down south that the owners where using to store their garbage in for years!

I put 2 bowls of ammonia in it and let it sit in the sun and it took out every stench of the smell out from the car and seats!

You might try wading up newspapers and stuff the freezer. It has worked on my home frig. You will probably have to do it a number of times as the paper absorbs the smells.

We had a similar thing happen (I left a lb of sausage in the feezer and put it in storage - during the summer). I scrubbed it done with a baking soda and water mixture a couple of times a day for 3-4 days and then put a box of baking soda in both sides. It got rid of our problem.

PS: When I stepped in the MH I thought somebody had murdered somebody and put them in our MH!!!! Our freezer was open so it made the whole MH smell. Had to wash all the bedding, etc.

Mix a spray bottle with half water and half bleach. Bleach will kill everything. Might want a fan running so the fumes don't get to strong. As with any cleaner gloves are a good thing.
