Thanks for pics, it is fun to see places you recognize. We don't take that Cascades Route enough, it sure takes a long time to get to Eastern Washington, but it is a beautful trip. Keep working, so you can get to retirement!

A really nice trip and a pleasure to view your pictures.
Your cat is great, is he a Maine Coon Cat? I haven't had a cat for years but a cat that size could keep my dogs under control.

Great trip report. I loved the pictures.
We just came back from a trip to Tillamook from California. The mountains do take a toll on the fuel mileage and the speed.
Still its better than the original settlers had it. Makes you appreciate what they might have gone through traveling the same routes.
Again, great presentation.
Regards,
PJ

What a great trip. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful pictures. I really hate seeing all of them because it just reminds me of the fact that I am not there!
I just returned from a trip pulling my small trailer with a Dodge/Cummins a couple weeks ago, went 949 miles and only (right, only!) spent $250 on fuel, gotta love diesel. Yep, around 17 MPG going 60.

That sure looks like Tahlak(sp?) Lake. Do they have piped water yet? Went there last year and the pump was out. No water, just host giving away 1 gallon jugs of water per day. Love that take but without water it's no very popular. Great fishing also.
My new DRW and camper on the truck the first time.

A couple pictures were taken at Tahklahk Lake. It's a really pretty spot with an unmatched view of Mt. Adams. The water system is still not working. I understood the problem was bacteria in the water but I have also heard the pump or well system was in need of repair. We actually stayed at another lake 7 miles away because the bugs were so thick at Tahklahk. It's a great forest for hiking. Trails all over the place.
Next time we go up there, I will do what some of the other campers did. Bring along 10-15 extra gallons of water to refill the fresh tank and get one of those portable waste tanks. People would fill 10 gallon waste holding tanks and dump them in the forest service outhouses. It would extend your ability to stay up in the forest a few days. We got to the 4 day point before all our fresh water was gone and the waste tanks were filled. We did get enough water for the last morning by tilting the truck and camper to get the water over toward the fresh tank pickup.
The other thing to bring too, is an improved first aid kit. You never know when what will be needed. A couple young mothers came into camp one day. They had their camp all setup. Shortly thereafter, One of the ladies young son 4-5 was playing and not looking and fell into another campsites firepit. Not a good thing. He had really bad burns on the back of both his calfs and both his hands. Fortunately we had some neosporen and gauze in our kit to give them but not enough. We also gave them a couple blue plastic ice blocks they could hold to his burns. They had to pack up and leave to get him to a doctor. They also had to go down the same 3 mile detour road out of the forest we took to get to the closest doctor. The kid will be ok but he's going to be hurting for a while.
The fantastic vent was a true blessing and made a couple of nights tollerable. Interestingly, A side benefit of the fantastic fan is that it sucks up and holds mosquitos and other bugs so you can sleep in peace while they suffer.
Looking forward to going up there again. Got a couple other trips planned for the fall and of course we will be going to Leavenworth for the Christmas lighting festival and to eat mass quantities of Bavarian food.
Take care,
Jeff
