We have a Dutchmen Victory Lane Toyhauler and we are having problems getting the fresh water tank to take on a full load of water. When filling, it starts out good but it will quit taking water long before it is full. We have tried filling it slowly but even that doesn't seem to help. We bought a clear tube that goes into the fill opening from our RV dealer and it seemed to help at first but now that doesn't even seem to help. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an idea what is wrong? We have friends with the same exact toyhauler and they don't have a problem when filling.
Thanks,
JimC

Maybe a critter (bug) got into the vent pipe? Sounds like its not venting properly.

I had an older Dutchmen with the same problem. I bought a longer clear hose that was 4 to 5 feet long and inserted it into the fill hose all the way. We could then get our tank full.

Suggest that you get a 1/4" plastic hose and stick it into the filler spout about 18 to 24" then fill, not through the 1/4" hose but using the 1/4" hose as a vent. Sounds like the tank isn't venting.

I had the problem also. To start with I was filling too fast then I found that the hose that connected the two tanks had a sag in it. I fastened it straight, fill more slowly and end up with two full tanks. I hope your fix is this easy.

With ours, the hole in the inside wall was not in line with the outside hole for the filler and vent hoses. The clear vent hose was pinched off where it was jammed against the inside wall hole edge by the filler hose. I had to cut a bigger hole in the inside wall to give the vent hose some room. Problem solved.

Long version; I have two tanks that are linked together. The first tank would fill as normal but the water was slow going into the second tank through the link. I checked both vents and discovered that the vent for the second tank was plugged. Probably some bug thought it looked like home! I blew out the line and all is good now.

Short version; you probably have a plugged vent line. If air cannot get out, water cannot get in.

I had the same problem & found that the manufacturer had tightened a nylon tie too tight around the air vent tube & collapsed it. I replaced that section of tubing with copper pipe and now I don't have a problem.
