What would be the reason to have analog pass through after Feb 2009?

Some low power stations will not be converting to digital in 2009. Also, you can use analog to view the signal from VCR's and some other older equipment.

I will give you an even better reason for analog passthrough in March of 2009 (or later) OVER THE AIR is only one source of video. You also have VCR, DVD (To a modulator) Video Cameras and other sources... if you put the converter in the line to the television AFTER THE SWITCH (necessarly if you want to watch different shows on different tv's) then analog pass through is a must for these alternative sources.

I have a tv, vcr and amplifier and batwing antenna. I have never gotten real good reception. I purchased the Zenith converter and put it between the antenna and amplifier and get 22 stations perfectly now. This is without rotating the antenna at all. Just for kicks I lowered the antenna and the stations still come in just as clear. My question is do I have the converter where it should be? The only instructions in the box where to hook the antenna to the box and the box to the tv. As most of you know changing the hookups is no easy task on an older winnebago.

Some of us have figured out how to set up the converter box so you can have anolog and digital feed with no wire swaping. It is not hard. Bat wing antenna is UHF/VHF and should work with no problem.

For those of you really interested in this, Wilmington, NC, went all digital just recently (Sept. 8) as an early test of the country-wide February switchover. Many people are not happy and at least HALF of current OTA viewers are no longer able to receive one or more local major network affiliates they were able to receive before. You can read about it here.

It is a fact that the digital cliff (cliff effect) will reduce the distance a digital signal is receivable on a 1 for 1 transmitted power comparison (digital vs. analog). Also the talk that MOST stations are transmitting their digital signals at a reduced power level may or may not be true. They have the option (currently) to broadcast at a reduced power level, however many are not. They only way to know who is and who is not is to call the individual station.

I always get better reception on the digital channels. IF I cannot get digital, analog doesn't come in good enough to watch or not at all. My televison has a built in digital tuner.

I keep a compass in the RV and use it with my GPS to determine where the closet town is at in to relation to me and aim the antenna towards town. I almost always get a few digital channels. If I can't get digital, the analogs are not worth watching and I just watch something that I had previously recorded on my DVR. I normally keep about 220 hours worth of programming on my DVR.

Hey, maybe try this: Make yourself a coathanger type bow-tie antenna, connect it to the CABLE IN where you would normally connect cable from the pedestal, connect the digital converter box to the "cable" line inside the MH instead of the antenna line. Place your coathanger antenna outside somewhere wherever you are parked. The old coathanger bow-tie type antenna's pick up the digital signal much better than our batwings!. Try it.

The way I understand it, is that if your TV isn't digital, then you need to get a converter. Now this may be a dumb question, but is there a way to tell if your TV has a digital tuner?
