I have a 2000 camper with a two door Dometic refrigerator and it's never had that problem either. I'm not sure it's a model problem.

Well... I don't have either of those issues with my 2005 Dometic.

However I also don't put a six pack in it, ever

The design is basically the same since they changed it in the mid 1990's to reduce the incidence of crystallization from running off level.
We've found 50% of RV absorption fridges are mis installed. Either they are vented wrong, have a bad or missing baffle, or the insulation has been damaged or is missing.
Check here for a service manual for your make and model and review This for the proper venting and baffling.

I don't have that problem with my 98 or did I have it with my 87. Only difference is that my present coach is automatic and 120vac is default, whereas the older one had to changed from elect. to gas manually.
