My coach ('93) has had these 3 caps twist together type forever, so this is not new technology. The problem is WHO installed the cables. They use as short a cable as they can to save $5 and they never have to deal with it.

My suggestion would be to bite the bullet and buy new and LONGER cables so that they have some flex and movement in the cables and it makes it easier to remove the caps.

I agree! I had to have all new cable made up because I went from twin 8D batterys to 4 T105 Trojans. I had mine made up at the battery joint and we made them from "welding wire cable" as compared to battery cable. Welding wire is as limp as cooked spaghetti in comparison to battery cable.

If you don't want to re cable, then contact US Battery. They make the u2200 for interstate and others... including Costco. The Costco batteries do not use the speed caps so they have standard caps.

Throw the caps away, as they are prone to leaking

Leaking? First I've heard of it. They certainly have vent holes, but leaking?

Water Miser is pretty expensive for what it does, in my humble opinion.

At $4 a piece not too bad(and they are reusable). Previous forums have had many with sepage problems with the 3way caps(and other standard caps). We were one and since replacing with the water misers no leakage.

I will admit it can be tricky getting it on and off

You might try Hydro-caps A seller's web page I found with GOOGLE

Advance Auto Parts carries pre-made cables in a few stock sizes up to about two feet long, or so. They cost less than $10 each (two years ago, anyway).

If you use any automotive cables you should be sure they are the right size. My coach uses the same U2200 battery configuration as yours and the specifications for all the connecting cables are #2 wire. Moreover, the terminator ends are usually thicker than automotive cables.

One of my cables was bad and the Interstate people made me another one for about $8. And the Interstate connectors are better than most since they are sealed on the battery connection end of the cable so that acid cannot get into the connection.

Drive your rig over the your local Interstate Battery distributor and they will do the job right. (They were working on a big rig while I was getting my cable.)

Be careful with the Hydro-caps they are very high and require removal when full charging and are $12 each!

Oh, I don't use Hydro Caps.. I just found the link to 'em I have the same triple "Quick Cap" that the O/P has on my Interstates and yes, it takes a bit of skill to get 'em on and off when I inspect the batteries and when I need to add distilled once a year (I inspect more often, water annually.. I LOVE MY CONVERTER!!)

I had a leaking/corrosion problem with the "three twist" style caps. Switched over to water misers (per dav5942) and have had no more leakage or corrosion.

We recently had to replace all 4 of our 6 volt deep cycle house batteries.
These new batteries are the Interstate Workaholic U2200 models and they have a (new to me) different style of caps that I have never seen before. Each battery has a single style twist on filler cap.
The cap fits down into all three ports and then you flip or twist the top of the unit and all 3 of the caps twist or lock into place as one single unit. I have never seen such a gizmo.

My problem or question is that with all four of these batteries interconnected and with all the wires going back and forth from battery to battery, the wires are all in the way of removing this new style cap assembly.

Have other folks encountered this same problem and what did you do to remedy this problem?

I want to be able to routinely check the fluid levels and add distilled water as needed, but if I can not remove the caps without having to remove the battery cables, that will be a problem.
I went back to the RV dealer who installed the batteries and they were equally as baffled as I am. They are contacting the manufacturer to seek a solution, but have not got an answer as yet.

Appreciate any suggestions that you could offer.

Larry

Some of the golf cart battery manufactures have been using these for some time now. I like the present design on my golf cart batteries, but switched out the ones I had on my old set with a triple pull off and on type cap, which is typical of a trojan design. In your case, I would change them to plain old single screw on caps, which should be available most anywhere.
