I'm looking at a 2006 Gulfstream 21 FT MB Amerilite trailer and wondering if this would be a good brand? The dealer wants 8,995.00 for it.

Thanks, Robert

Better to go to www.rv.org for the RV Consumer group's rating for this model AND then go to www.rvknowhow.com to read the Kieva's suggestions for how to select an RV.
If the rig doesn't work for you when camping it was not a good deal.

well i have herd lots of negative on Gulfstream. The camper your looking at is the same one i have except mine is a 07. we have had no trouble with ours an no complaints. it pulls great. we really like ours. we have a great dealer who stands behind what he sales though. i think that makes a difference. i wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. if the camper floor plan an features work for you then you will like it. good luck

Like ricstone said, Gulfstream seems to attract a lot of negative attention. And based on some of the posts, much of it is probably deserved.

However, our Gulfstream Amerilite has been troublefree for us, and we've had a lot of fun in it. It's light, it tows well, and we got a lot of camper for our dollar. No regrets at all about our purchase of a Gulfstream.

We have a 2008 Gulfstream Amerilite 21MB purchased in 02/08. We have taken it on 6 four-day trips so far and have been extremely pleased with the performance of the TT. All the appliances have worked great, no leaks, no breakdowns. There are two major complaints I have and they are 1) the loudness of the water pump when dry docking (I believe this is a common complaint for most pumps, but I feel like we could scare the woods clear of all wildlife once we turn it on!), and the other complaint is the lack of outside storage..there is NONE. Other than that we feel blessed because we know that all brands..Gulfstream and every other namebrand, have their share of problems as noted by many of the posts on these forums. We figured we paid on the low end of the scale so we knew that it wouldn't be built like a top dollar model, but we have been very pleasantly suprised with the craftsmanship in our unit..I wish you the same if you choose to purchase the Amerilite. Happy camping!

Having spent the better part of a decade visiting the biggest RV show in the US, I have always found it difficult to find a low end trailer that appears to be a bigger piece of trash. Clearly some of the worst build quality out there. When you walk into a "show" rig with a soft and failing floor, massive gaps in trim and a bathroom wall that is noticeably out of plumb, it really speaks volumes of what potential horrors await. No thanks. Every large manufacturer has an entry level product, most appear to be slammed together a little better than this brand, so why take a chance?

Hey, I don't own one, but just on the basis of looking through a few of their units on dealer lots, Gulfstream would not be high on my shopping list. My observations are similar to those of soren - fit & finish problems, big gaps in trim generously slathered with gobs of putty, etc.
